The season opener is a week away. Actually, the season-opening event is a week away. The 41st annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment kicks off next Tuesday at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. It’s the first of 12 consecutive days of racing, featuring the World of Outlaws sprint cars, late model series and big block modifieds. The All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars will be in action for two nights and the UMP late models and modifieds will also compete in the prestigious event.
I leave on Sunday for the two weeks in the Florida sun (I hope I’m not jinxing myself). I can’t wait to get on the road and start hitting up races. That’s what I live for. I love living out of a suitcase and going from track to track. Plus, it’s not going to hurt that I’m staying on the beach in Daytona.
Over the past couple of weeks that I’ve been working for the World of Outlaws, I’ve been writing a lot of press releases and preparing for the season. Once it starts, it’ll get busy super fast.
One of the unique articles I was able to write was a press release about NASCAR driver Dave Blaney competing next week in Florida. Blaney, the 1995 World of Outlaws champion, is one of the best in the series’ history. He is eighth in all-time wins and was the championship runner-up four times.
Blaney is also a nice guy to talk to. He said he still follows the WoO as much as he can and misses being a sprint car driver. Here is a link to that article:
I’ve also been doing some prep work for the West Coast swing, which features nine races throughout the month of March in Arizona, Nevada and California. It’s really fun to get back to writing as much as I have been the past couple of weeks.
