Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (Nov. 5, 2024) – Derek Hagar tied his career-best World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series result a week and a half ago at Riverside International Speedway.
Hagar, who was driving for Paul Hart, qualified 19th quickest to open the action on Oct. 25. He gained a position to finish fourth in a heat race, locking into the 15th starting spot in the main event.
“We went out 18th or so in qualifying and that hurt our time because the track fell off so fast,” he said. “We had a good heat race and were able to transfer into the main event.
“We had a good car in the feature, but we had an issue with a shock not acting right on the left rear and that made the car ill handling from the get-go. I was lucky to hold on for what I had because it felt like I was driving a modified.”
Hagar advanced into the top 10 and ended with an 11th-place result, which he has now recorded three different times with the World of Outlaws.
“I’m very pleased with it,” he said. “It was definitely a challenge. To be able to run like we did with the caliber of cars that were there and to have such a good result while battling a problem on the car made it a good night. It was our last race of the season so I’m glad we went out with a solid performance.”
