Inside Line Promotions – HAGERSTOWN, Md. (Sept. 24, 2019) – Brian Brown earned a trio of top-10 finishes last weekend while competing with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions, including back-to-back fifth-place runs to cap the busy weekend.
Sept. 20 – Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. – Qualifying: 4; Heat race: 3 (3); Feature: 10 (11).
“With the way the format is you either have to qualify first or second quick overall or you want to be slow where you’re on the front row of your heat race,” Brown said. “We qualified too well and we had Kerry Madsen and Brian Montieth in front of us in the heat. We made a run at Montieth and then settled in and ran third. We gained a spot in the feature before it laid rubber. To qualify well and have good speed, it was a good night overall.”
Sept. 21 – Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa. – Qualifying: 3; Heat race #1: 1 (1); Heat race #2: 5 (9); Feature: 5 (4).
“It started off real well,” Brown said. “Our expectations weren’t real high because it can be a confidence killer. It’s one of the tougher places to race in the country. We were happy with qualifying third and winning our first heat race. The second round of heats was totally inverted. Some guys in front of us crashed. We lined up in fourth and got right into third. I got a little overaggressive and over the cushion. It sucked me in and turned me over. Lots of teams came and pitched in, including Cory Eliason and T.J. Stutts, so we appreciate that. We ended up finding some stuff that wasn’t right on Sunday so to get out of there with a top five in the feature was a very, very good result.”
Sept. 22 – Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Md. – Qualifying: 7; Heat race: 3 (4); Feature: 5 (12).
“We qualified too good,” Brown said. “We went out late and were about two tenths better than everyone around that time. That makes you have to start fourth in your heat and you have to run in the top two to make the dash. We got to third, but that started us 12th in the feature. We scratched and clawed to get another top five. That was a really good run for us. We felt like if we could have started toward the front maybe we would have had a shot to contend for the win.”
UP NEXT – Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Saturday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Commonwealth Clash with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series
“We’d like to get a win at Williams Grove,” Brown said. “We’re getting more of a grasp on it every time we’re there. We’ve worked with a particular package since we’ve got out to Pennsylvania knowing places are going to get slick. Every time we run it we get a little better and I think our results show it.”
